Late View: Tricks and Trades
29 June 2012
6-10pm
We will be opening our doors for an evening of entertainment
inspired by our exhibition
'Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker', where the past meets the
present.
Try a specially-designed cocktail from the pop-up bar and listen
to your favourite pop tunes played in classical style by the (fully
costumed!)
London Ensemble string quartet.
Artist Stella
Harding will be helping us make contemporary jewellery
using traditional basket-weaving techniques. There will also
be a 'wandering installation' piece which everyone can contribute
to.
Fan-dancer
Sachi
Latina from the London Academy of Burlesque will be giving us a
thrill in the Amphitheatre (and teaching us a few moves), and twice
winner of Close Up Magician of the Year Simon Evans will
be roving around with some amazing card tricks... You can
then pop into the exhibition to see historic examples of fans and
playing cards - we're sure their makers would approve of
their modern uses...
All events are free
Entry to the exhibition is charged at the usual rate.
